Alcoholism can affect everyone close to the alcoholic; these ripples of the disease can devastate the alcoholics’ loved ones and produce long-lasting effects. Fortunately, recovery can also be a family affair, and it may lead to positive life experiences. The ripples of recovery can also have long-lasting effects, affect different generations, and transform lives. (Jackson, 2016, pp.158-159)
